Little ones can enjoy fairground rides, ice skating and even a visit from some of their favourite characters at a fun filled winter event this December.

Ocean Beach Pleasure Park, at South Shields, recently launched its Winter Wonderland, welcoming a real ice-skating rink, a festival bar with fire pits and a wide variety of festive food and drink vendors.

And the park is celebrating the countdown to Christmas by hosting some very special guests over the coming weeks, starting with Anna and Kristoff on Saturday (4 December) and Elsa and Olaf on Sunday (5 December) from 1pm to 4pm.

Those heading to the Winter Wonderland the following weekend can pose for a photo with Mickey and Minnie on 11 December, while Belle and Cinderella will be joining in on the fun on 12 December.

This weekend’s stars will pay another visit to the park later in the month, with Elsa and Kristoff stopping by on 18 December and Anna and Olaf meeting little ones on 19 December.

And the venue will welcome two of Santa’s elves every day from 20 to 24 December, to help visitors get into the festive spirit in time for the big day.

Michael Sheeran, an operator at Ocean Beach, is confident their special guests will be very popular.

“The great thing about the Winter Wonderland is that we have a huge site to work with and there’s something for all ages to enjoy,” he said.

“We really wanted to add something a little extra special into our weekend visits and we have a really exciting lineup of children’s characters heading to the park over the next few weeks.

“There’s lots to see and do across the entire park so it’s sure to be a fantastic, festive day out for the whole family.”

Booking in advance is recommended and slots for the ice rink cost £9 for adults and children aged 13 and over, £7 for children aged over 3 and family tickets are available at £27 for two adults and two children.

Private hire is also available for a group of up to 30, with activities running until 9 January 2022.
