Online tickets are now on sale for Sunderland’s Festival of Light, an extravaganza of illuminations set to brighten up the dark early winter nights.

The Festival of Light, which is an enormously popular part of the Christmas in Sunderland programme, will this year be held in its new city centre location of Mowbray Park.

The Festival of Light will take place from Thursday to Sunday each week between 21st November and 22nd December 2019.

As well as enjoying a great range of illuminated attractions, visitors can experience live music, illuminated street performances, craft workshops and even appearances by Santa’s reindeer.

Tickets for the Festival of Light cost £3 per person, with children under the age of two admitted for free. Discounts are available for anyone purchasing three or more tickets online.

In addition, anybody who books tickets before Halloween (31st October) will be entered in a prize draw and could win a £50 voucher for the Bridges Shopping Centre.

The leader of Sunderland City Council, Cllr Graeme Miller, said, “Every year we bring new lighting features and attractions to the Festival of Light, and this year’s event in Mowbray Park promises to be one of the best yet.”

“The city centre location for this year’s event means visitors can enjoy everything Christmas in Sunderland has to offer, including the Pantomime at the Sunderland Empire, an ice rink in Keel Square and a great range of shopping, cafés and restaurants for the whole family to enjoy.”
