South Tyneside-based utilities specialist, Consultiv Utilities, has taken additional office space in its Hebburn headquarters to accommodate up to 50 new team members over the course of 2024.

With new roles in sales and business support required to hit the business’s ambitious targets for the year, 27 of the 50 vacancies have already been filled as of 14th June 2024.

The consultancy, which offers a range of energy, waste, water and telecommunications services to businesses around the UK, has already enjoyed significant growth since it was launched by founder and managing director, Paul Smith, in 2017. With more than 170 employees already working within the company, Consultiv Utilities has built a reputation in recent years as a dynamic, technology-driven leader in the utilities market.

On the back of a record-breaking 2023, the consultancy now supports over 5,000 UK customers and gained accolades for being an enjoyable place to work.

Last year the business was announced as the “Best Company to Work For in Utilities” on the 2023 Best Companies to Work For List. The List recognises UK employers’ commitment to their employees and acknowledges their investment in workplace engagement. Consultiv Utilities was also rated the UK’s 6th best mid-sized company to work for and the 7th best employer in the North East.

In 2024, the business has already added a further “World Class to Work for” Award to its list of accolades, achieving the highest possible 3-star Best Companies accreditation.

To facilitate the organisation’s expansion plans, Consultiv Utilities has leased an additional floor at Merchant House on Monkton South Business Park from property owners, Central Space. This will provide an extra 8,000 square feet of office space, almost doubling the company’s footprint.

Speaking at the opening of the new office space at Merchant House, Consultiv Utilities’ Managing Director, Paul Smith, said,

“We’re delighted to be expanding operations here at Merchant House and making room for new team members within the business over the coming years – all of whom will be able to access our extensive training and professional development opportunities. We pride ourselves on providing an enjoyable and rewarding working environment and we’ve taken the time to ensure that the new office is both conducive to getting work done but also a welcoming and sociable space.

“In securing the second floor of Merchant House, our landlords at Central Space have made the process easy for us. We’re now looking forward to settling in and building on the momentum that has enabled us to reach this point.”

Marc Dixon, Managing Director at Central Space, commented,

“We’re always delighted to see one of our tenants going from strength to strength. In the case of Consultiv Utilities, growth has come particularly quickly. Expanding their operations in our high-quality, purpose-built and fully-serviced offices is great news for the local area, providing valuable employment opportunities and career progression for local professionals.”
