Smart Works North East has successfully concluded its second annual Shop for Smart Works sale in Sunderland.
Shoppers turned out in strong numbers to snap up new-with-tags and pre-loved designer and high street pieces including Rixo, Varley, Mint Velvet, and Fred Perry x Margaret Howell, all with up to 70% off RRP.
The sale, held at Sunderland City Hall, raised Β£2,000 for the charity, building on the success of the first Sunderland pop-up last summer.
The funds will go directly into supporting Smart Works North Eastβs mission of supporting local women into work, through providing them with clothing for interviews and one-to-one coaching. Since its inception in 2018, the charity has supported over 3,700+ women into employment.
Smart Works North East would like to thank Richard Reed Solicitors for their sponsorship of the Sunderland event, as well as everyone who attended and shopped on the day.
The next Shop for Smart Works event will take place on 9th and 10th October 2026 at Northumbria University. Although, there will be a return to Sunderland on Thursday 1st July 2027.

About Smart Works North East:
Smart Works North East, established in 2018, is part of Smart Works- a dynamic, high-profile UK charity that exists to empower all women who need help getting into work. Through the transformative power of high-quality clothing and one-to-one coaching, we help women succeed at interview, get the job and gain the confidence and independence that comes with it.
68% of the clients Smart Works supported ahead of an interview secured employment and 95% felt more confident they would succeed at their next interview.
To date, Smart Works has supported over 40,000 women nationwide, with over 3700 supported by Smart Works North East. Our mission is simple: that any woman who needs our support should be able to access it.
Smart Works delivers its service through 10 centres across the UK, including London, Manchester, Glasgow, Edinburgh, Birmingham, Newcastle, Reading and Leeds, as well as virtually for women in other regions.
Looking ahead, Smart Works North East is proud to play a vital role in helping even more women unlock their potential, in our local community and beyond.
