An augmented reality trail in Sunderland will not only offer a day of fun for families this Easter but the chance to win money off their next shopping trip too.
Sunderland BID has unveiled a spring-themed trail taking place across the city until 30 April, with seven new characters to find via the Sunderland Experience app.
And with chicks, ducks, bunnies and lambs dotted around the city, the BID is encouraging people to snap a photo with their favourite character to be in with the chance of winning a Sunderland Gift Card worth £25.
To enter, pictures can be shared as a comment under the main competition post on the Sunderland Experience It Here Facebook page, with five winners chosen randomly at the end of the trail.
With more than 120 businesses accepting the card across the city, families could treat themselves to everything from food to beauty treatments, from clothes to attractions.
And a number of local retailers have also hopped on board to support the trail, with a variety of special deals on offer across the month from Beauty HQ, Thoburns Fresh Produce, Harrison and Brown, Flowers By Jennifer, Pop’s Candy and more.
This is the third augmented reality trail launched by the BID, following on from the success of its previous Halloween and Christmas versions.
Sharon Appleby, Chief Executive at Sunderland BID, believes this is a great way for families to celebrate Easter safely.
“With schools off for the Easter holidays, we wanted to offer parents a fun activity to enjoy with their little ones while still abiding by social distancing measures,” she said.
“The trail will run for a whole month, which gives everyone plenty of time to head out and look for our seven, new characters.
“We’re doing things a little differently this time with a whole host of offers and incentives available for those who take part and complete it, so we hope our city’s businesses will see the benefits too.”
The trail can only be accessed by downloading the free Sunderland Experience app. Anyone who has previously installed the app will be able to use it again for the duration of the trail.
Additional information and updates will also be available via the Sunderland Experience It Here Facebook page.
