The team at Specsavers in Washington have been embracing the festive season by collecting donations for a local charity.

Now in its fourth consecutive year, the store based in The Galleries Shopping Centre has gathered gifts, books, and sweet treats in support of the Washington Community Food Project.

The locally-owned and run business, which has operated the festive charity drive every December since 2022, received 40 gifts, 12 books and 15 sweet treats from staff and customers alike.

This Christmas marks the first festive season the team have spent in their new store in The Galleries.

Retail director Claire Killeen was pleased they were able to keep up the collection tradition in a new location, saying:

“We have been overwhelmed by the response from colleagues and customers alike.

“The amount of donations we’ve had speaks volumes for the community of Washington and we are so glad they have stuck behind us since we moved premises.

“We hope to continue this tradition for many years to come as we play our small part in helping the Washington Community Food Project in the work they do locally to provide food and essential items to those most in need.”
