England may have had a topsy-turvy route to the final of Euro 2024, but the communities at the Orchard Care Homes group have been cheering the lads all the way – and this Sunday’s decider will be no different!

One person with a particularly special connection to the team is Margaret, a cherished member of the Paddock Stile Manor community in Houghton-le-Spring, nestled between Durham and Sunderland. Margaret’s pride in England’s performance is deeply personal —her grandson is none other than England’s star goalkeeper, Jordan Pickford.

Jordan ensured she felt part of the action by sending the home she lives at an England shirt with his name and number. Margaret, adorned in her grandson’s gift, has been a beacon of support, cheering alongside her fellow friends from the home, as they followed the team’s remarkable journey through the championships.
As anticipation builds for the final match, Orchard Care Homes’ communities are ready to continue their enthusiastic support, united in their pride and excitement for England.

Not surprisingly, Paddock Stile Manor Dementia Care Home has been a hub of excitement since the qualifiers, with its people passionately supporting the team; joining Margaret around the TV for every game.

Orchard Care Homes runs 23 care homes across the North of England and Midlands. The group’s mission is to provide truly individualised care, tailored to the individual.

Their specialist dementia care model, Reconnect, is available at a number of homes across the group. Reconnect Communities are centred on the person, rather than dementia, and the focus is on bringing pleasure to the people who live there, through meaningful engagement, inclusion and choice.

Over at Green Lodge Care Home in Billingham, the people have transformed their common areas and corridors into a sea of Union Flags, all lovingly handmade by those living there. The home is bursting with national pride as everyone eagerly anticipates the final match.

At Archers Court Nursing Home in Sunderland, the home is adorned with flags, football graphics, and posters, setting the perfect scene for the big game.
The people who live there will enjoy a fabulous red-and-white themed buffet, with delicious buns decorated by the talented hands of the residents themselves, adding a personal touch to the celebration.

Orchard Care Homes Rally Behind England for Euro 2024 Final

“Our residents and colleagues have had a lot of fun cheering on the England lads as they make their way through to the finals.

We all very much hope they can go all the way and bring the silverware home. No-one will be cheering louder than the people at our 23 homes!”
