A number of North East performers are in talks with a leading entertainment agency, following a successful event in Sunderland earlier this month (8 October).

Performance experts, ISG, hosted Bridges Got Talent at the shopping centre for the final day of the week-long Bridges Means Business programme – taking place as part of the City of Sunderland Business Festival.

Budding singers and dancers were invited to audition for the North East-based production company, with paid entertainment roles on offer for those who impressed the judges.

And the region’s rising stars turned out in force, including one performer who secured an audition for a Christmas show and a vocal coach who is exploring an opportunity to support ISG’s partner company, the Inspire Stage School.

The panel were also impressed with a singer-songwriter who performed their own, original music, who has now been invited to meet ISG’s in-house music producer to explore how to develop their act further.

Paul Waite, CEO at ISG, believes the success of the event showcases the diverse range of jobs the company has to offer.

“We’re always on the lookout for new artists to work with,” he said, “and that’s why events like Bridges Got Talent are so important – where anyone can take centre stage and showcase what they can do.

“While we were initially looking for singers and dancers to fill spaces in our Christmas shows, we also found some really talented performers who could fit other roles within ISG.

“We’re looking forward to working with and supporting these performers going forward to see what opportunities are available for them and we hope to hold more events like this in the future.”

Karen Eve, centre director at the Bridges, believes it was a fantastic way to close the Bridges Means Business programme.

“Bridges Means Business has been an excellent resource for job seekers in the city, with a whole host of opportunities on offer throughout the week across a range of sectors,” she said.

“It was amazing to have ISG in the centre for our final day to shine a spotlight on the range of jobs within the entertainment industry and the event was a huge success.

“It was a great opportunity for our shoppers to get involved with and we were very impressed with the level of talent that the performers brought to the stage.”

Along with working with a growing portfolio of artists, ISG manages and delivers large-scale event experiences and is currently developing the ISG Hub – a multi-functional workspace to benefit the arts and culture sector across the region.
