Fourth-year Newcastle University dental student Sul Malik has expanded DentalCompare, a free dental comparison website, into Sunderland, helping local residents compare dentists, treatments and published prices, as well as search for practices offering NHS care.
DentalCompare was created after Sul noticed how difficult it can be for patients to compare their options when looking for dental care. Treatment prices are often spread across individual practice websites, while people looking for NHS dentistry can face the additional challenge of finding practices that may be accepting patients.
The website brings this information together in one place, allowing users to search their area and compare local dental options more easily.
Sul said:
I wanted to build something that genuinely makes finding a dentist easier. DentalCompare is completely free to use, and the aim is to save people from having to search through lots of different websites or contact practice after practice just to understand their options.
Following its initial launch, DentalCompare has now expanded its coverage across the North East, including Sunderland, with the platform now featuring more than 100 dental clinics.
The project has already attracted attention from the Newcastle Chronicle, which recently featured Sul and DentalCompare, and the platform is also due to feature in Dentistry.co.uk.
Sul added:
Expanding into Sunderland was an important next step. I want DentalCompare to become genuinely useful to people across the region, whether they're comparing the cost of private treatment or trying to find somewhere offering NHS care.
