The University of Sunderland Glass and Ceramics Department is preparing to present SUMMIT, the final ever BA degree show for the course, celebrating creativity, achievement and the beginning of new artistic journeys.
Taking place at the National Glass Centre in Sunderland, opening on the 5th of June to 13th June, this exhibition features 13 graduating artists working across ceramics and glass. The show highlights a diverse range of practices, bringing together technical skill, experimentation, and distinct artistic voices at a pivotal moment in each artist’s journey.
SUMMIT marks the culmination of a course that has played a significant role in shaping contemporary craft and art for decades. Known for its strong sense of community and innovation, the programme has supported generations of artists in developing ambitious and thoughtful work. While this is the final ever Glass and Ceramics BA show, it is also a moment to celebrate the lasting impact and legacy of the department.
The opening night takes place on 5th June from 6 to 8 pm, and everyone is warmly welcome to attend. The evening will be led by Rob Winter, the course leader and lecturer of our program, who will guide us through this special celebration. The event brings together students, staff, friends, and the wider community for a memorable gathering. Guests can expect a lively and welcoming atmosphere, with free drinks and the opportunity to meet the talented artists behind the work.
At its heart, SUMMIT is both a proud farewell and an exciting beginning. As one-chapter closes, these graduates step forward into their future, carrying the spirit of the department with them.
Join us in celebrating this final moment and the next generation of artists.
