Culture House Sunderland is thrilled to host North-East crime author Jessica Irena Smith for a conversation about her debut novel The Summer She Vanished, a dark and twisted thriller that takes the reader on a compelling journey to find the truth behind the story of a missing teen, a murdered nun, and the dark secret connecting them that has been haunting the local area for more than forty years.
Jessica has a BA in Glass & Ceramics and an MA in Glass, both from the University of Sunderland, and was based at the National Glass Centre. She’s a glass artist by trade and has been selling online and through galleries since 2009, when she also began writing. Jessica’s writing is inspired by a wide variety of interests but is fuelled by her love for true crime podcasts, which she listens to while cutting glass and loading kilns. Newcastle upon Tyne born and bred, Jessica now lives in County Durham, her second novel will be published in October 2024.
The event is taking place on Thursday 26th September at 6.30pm at the Creative Smart City Hub @ Houghton Library (74 Newbottle Street, Houghton-Le-Spring, DH4 4AF)
Tickets available to purchase from Sunderland Libraries’ EventBrite page.
We are looking forward to see you there!
