This summer will see some of the biggest names from eighties and early nineties chart music rocking Sunderland’s Herrington Country Park.

The ‘Let’s Rock’ outdoor music festival will be returning to Sunderland for the second time following the success of last year’s sell-out event.

This year’s headliners will be Status Quo, one of Britain’s most iconic and longest-lasting rock bands.

Let’s Rock will also feature the chart toppers Marc Almond, Jason Donovan, Chesney Hawkes and T-Pau, along with Shalamar, Tom Bailey from the Thompson Twins, Kim Appleby, Limahl, From the Jam, Cutting Crew, and Betty Boo.

A number of other acts will be appearing as part of ‘The Reprobates Party Live’, including Belouis Some, Owen Paul, Jennie ‘Belle Star’ Matthais, Sarah Jane Morris of the Communards, and Westworld plus Black Lace’s Conga Party.

Let’s Rock will take place on Saturday 8th June. A family friendly festival, Let’s Rock will allow under-12s in free of charge and will feature a Kids’ Kingdom with an interactive circus, face-painting, inflatables and other activities.

The event will also feature VIP lounges and hospitality areas.

Sunderland City Council’s executive director of neighbourhoods, Fiona Brown, said, “We’re looking forward to welcoming Let’s Rock back to Herrington Country Park this summer after the success of last year’s event, which had thousands of people singing and dancing along to the music.”

“The award-winning park is one of the many great outdoor venues we have across the city, ready to stage fantastic music, sports and cultural activities.”

“Live music is part of a packed events programme we have organised here in Sunderland throughout the year for our residents and visitors to enjoy.”

The gates will open at 10.00 am and the show will finish at 10.30 pm. For information about ticket prices and availability, please go to https://letsrockthenortheast.com/.

The organisers of Let’s Rock said, “We’re really proud of what we’ve created with Let’s Rock and it’s such a thrill to work with so many iconic artists.”

“What makes Let’s Rock truly special is our amazingly loyal and up-for-it audience, and every year we strive to improve their experience. Here’s to our best Let’s Rock summer yet!”
