The music programme for this year’s Sunderland Airshow is really getting off the ground – with some great acts added to the line-up.

The Friday evening will be headlined by indie stars Scouting for Girls, who will be performing favourites such as She’s So Lovely, Heartbeat and Elvis Ain’t Dead.

The weekend will see a set from DJ Pat Sharp while the Royal Marines Band Scotland, local artists and community groups will also be entertaining the crowds.

Cllr John Kelly, Sunderland City Council’s cabinet member for communities and culture, said, “The stage at Cliffe Park provides a great focal point for visitors to Sunderland Airshow, where they can gather to enjoy top class musical entertainment, which is just one of the many free activities on the event site.”

“This year we are working in partnership with the team at Let’s Rock and they are providing us with first class entertainment for our stage show.”

Matt Smith from Let’s Rock said, “We are delighted to be working in partnership with Sunderland City Council to bring acts to this fantastic event.”

“We loved the atmosphere when we were here in 2018, and know that both our event in Herrington Country Park on 8th June and Sunderland Airshow are going to be very special this summer.”

This year’s Sunderland Airshow will have more musical entertainment than ever before and – with the brand new flying displays that have been announced – the organisers promise 2019’s event will be bigger and better than ever.

Tickets are now on sale for the Take Off Enclosure – an area with excellent views of the flying displays and close to the stage and big screen. The Take Off Enclosure will enable visitors to avoid the crowds and watch all the entertainment in style.

In the Take Off Enclosure, visitors can enjoy:

  • a complimentary welcome drink, a buffet and access to a pay bar
  • activities for kids of all ages
  • seating in both an indoor marque and outdoor viewing area
  • private toilet facilities

Tickets for the Take Off Enclosure start at £27.50 for adults and £15 for children.
