22 December 2021: Barratt Developments North East has been spreading the festive cheer this week with a donation of Christmas hampers to local key workers at St Benedict’s Hospice.

The five star housebuilder sent 12 ‘Christmas in a Box’ hampers to the hospice as a thank you to the staff members for all of the hard work they do for their patients and residents of the area close to its Cherry Tree Park development.

Filled with Christmas treats from hot chocolate to mince pies, and Christmas tree cookies to candy canes, the Christmas hampers were delivered by Barratt in the hope of putting a smile on staff members’ faces.

St Benedict’s Hospice, in Ryhope, Sunderland, provides free specialist palliative care to the people of Sunderland and surrounding districts, which it has been doing since 1984. The past few years haven’t been easy for key workers as a result of the ongoing pandemic, and Barratt’s donation of Christmas Hampers is just one way they’re able to show their appreciation for all of their hard work.

Lizzie Lerpiniere, Community Fundraising Manager at St Benedict’s Hospice said: “We’re extremely grateful for the donation of Christmas hampers from Barratt and it’s such a lovely gesture of thanks for all of the hard work our staff members do all year round. The past few years haven’t been easy and something like this really does help to uplift our spirits, especially at Christmas time when we have to continue working just as hard.”

Ashlea Wright, Sales Manager at Barratt Developments North East, said: “The staff members at St Benedict’s hospice give so much to our local community and their patients, which is exactly why we wanted to offer a token gesture of appreciation. Gifting them with Christmas hampers is just one way we have been able to show our appreciation for key workers in the area, but we really can’t thank the staff members at St Benedict’s Hospice enough.”
