Families from the North East of England are being invited to wrap up warm and enjoy a free afternoon of festive fun in Keel Square this December.

Sunderland BID and Sunderland City Council are teaming up to host two free screenings of Christmas favourites, Frozen and Home Alone:Lost In New York.

The event will take place on Saturday 17th December, with Frozen showing at noon and Home Alone:Lost In New York starting at 2pm. Seating and blankets will be available, but attendees are advised to wrap up warmly. Food, hot chocolate and a free AR trail will also be available, accessed by the Sunderland Experience app. The trail will bring to life a number of festive characters and creatures, making it a truly magical day out.

Sharon Appleby, Chief Executive of Sunderland BID, said:

Nothing says Christmas than watching one or two of everyones favourite movies. We know Frozen is a real crowd pleaser, as is Home Alone, so were sure that this free entertainment is something that North East families won‘t want to miss.

Councillor Linda Williams, Cabinet Member for Vibrant City, said:There is plenty to enjoy in the North East over Christmas, and this latest offering is perfect for families doing their Christmas shopping in Sunderland or for anyone who wants to watch some festive films in a fun outdoor setting as we enjoy the countdown to Christmas.
